HOMECOMING 2009

In 2009 Scotland will hold its first ever Homecoming Year to coincide with the 250th Anniversary of the birth of our National Poet - Robert Burns.

Organisations all over Scotland are currently planning Homecoming events and activities to celebrate the past, the present and the future.

If you are a Scot, or have Scottish ancestry, or just love Scotland, now is the time to visit Scotland.

As part of our contribution to the celebrations, Members of the West Lothian Family History Society will be available every Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm during the months of June, July, August and September 2009, to assist with, and advise on, West Lothian Family History research. They will be based at Library Headquarters, Connolly House, Hopefield Road, Blackburn.

In addition, it may be possible to arrange other dates and times by appointment. If you are planning a visit to West Lothian let us know by clicking on Homecoming 2009

1851 Census, 1901 Census & Burial Records Searches

We have also made available our West Lothian indexes to the 1851 and 1901 Censuses and our database of the Burial Registers which we have transcribed to date. They cover five cemeteries and date from about 1860 to 1974.
