What did your Great Grannie do in the Great War?

What did your Great Grannie do in the Great War?

Postby AllanMc134 » Sat Jul 09, 2011 1:50 pm

Hello everyone,
I am compiling a list, to start with at least, of women from West Lothian who served in one of the uniformed organisations during the Great War {probably better known as the First World War}. I would be interested to know if any of you have any female relations who 'served'.

Regards,

Allan McMurchie

Hello Rhona,
I mentioned Mary Stewart from Fort William because she is the only WAAC, of the same name and age of your gran, whose service records have survived. Your gran's records haven't survived. Also, there is no medal record card for your gran. This means that all her WAAC service was done somewhere in Britain. Do you have any details of her WAAC service?

Regards,

Allan

I don't have any details of Mary Stewart's service only that she was in the service. My Aunt, her last daughter, told me also that she was in the service as was my own mother.

Rhona,
I presume that your Aunt and Mother served in the W.A.A.C.S. in the Second World War!
