Members Meeting - Tuesday 8TH January 2019

Post by rhona » Thu Dec 27, 2018 8:39 pm

Our first members meeting of this session for 2019 is on Tuesday 8th January at Lanthorn Community Centre, Kenilworth Rise, Livingston EH54 6NY from 7pm – 9pm. The room is on the first floor, but there is a lift.

We will be having a Gies’ a haun’ night again where we will be having small groups around tables with personal screens to enable folks to see a lot easier around the tables. These groups will include a Podcast lecture, Ancestry, Find My Past, Family Search, Military, Irish and our own WLFHS Website if anyone needs to find their way around that.

If there is anything that you would like to bring to our notice or would like to see in one of these nights, then please email or speak to a member to the Council and we will do our best to help. Come along and join in and stay for a cup of tea or coffee.

Next Register House visit to Edinburgh will be on Tuesday 15th January 2019, please either email me to put your name on the list or add your name to the list which will be at the next meeting.

For those who have not been before, this is a private session booked for 40 places, going in from 6.30pm until 9.00pm and the cost is £8.00 per person payable on the evening to the Council Member collecting monies.

Please note that if you put your name on the list and do not turn up on the night, the cost remains payable as the Society books and pays for this visit in advance.

If we have enough prior notice that you cannot attend we may be able to get someone to fill the space as we quite often have a waiting list for spaces.

For those of you who live further away, remember that if you are visiting West Lothian that we also have volunteers at Local History Library in High Street, Linlithgow on a Wednesday and Friday from about 11am until 3-4pm to help anyone who needs it, if you can, come along and speak to them. On a Monday and a Thursday our volunteers are at our office within Lanthorn Library, situated at Lanthorn Community Centre as above. Alternatively, use the Forum or email to ask your questions, if you are stuck or need help with anything at all.

The Oaktree – Come on surely someone has found something of interest in their tree by now and perhaps you would like to share it with us all in the Oaktree, so why not put it into words and send it to the Editor to share with us all.

If you don’t think you can put is into words, contact our Editor and she will be able to help you. The Oaktree is your journal and depends on contributions from us all, so please help us continue to get material for it

- remember that our Editor needs stories, titbits etc to keep this going and interesting for us all.

Remember that you can check what is happening on our website either on the Forum and on our facebook page - West Lothian Family History Society - WLFHS. Any problems viewing them please email me if you are interested in either.
