If you're stuck with your research you could try the website www.rootschat.com. You have to register to use the site but it is free to use. Their forum is very extensive and if you scroll down you can pinpoint a subject of interest to you like country, county, military or whatever. I've found that if I have a query about something I don't have to wait long before somebody gives some useful advice pointing me in the right direction.
And if you get bored with your research you can just read the posts in the Common Room which often has funny or anecdotal posts on subjects like living in the early 20th Century in Scotland, etc.
