I have been some research on my Mum's side of the family tree. I also have a tree on Ancestry. I have sent away for my DNA to see what appears. I notice that some of the Mowbray certificates ended up with the spelling Moubray.
William Mowbray 1826 to 1870 married Elizabeth Bell 1835 to 1905 in 1856 Corstorphine. I have came across a death certificate for one of their Son's Henry Walker Mowbray. It lists him as dying on 10th Nov 1909 aged 45. He was born 1863 in Ratho. There are no parents listed as it says unknown for both of them. So I just wondered if that would be his death certificate?
I can get onto the WLFHS Forum using my Login and password. But when I try to go onto the Member's Area. It will not let me in using the same login in and password. Any ideas how I can rectify this problem.
Thanks
Derek

Re: Mowbray family from Colinton
Derek,
There are 2 Henry Mowbray's on Scotlandspeople who were born in 1863 plus or minus 2 years. One, as you know, died in Falkirk in 1909. The other died in Milton in 1924. You would need to check his birth certificate, hopefully it will give parents names. This should prove which Henry Mowbray is yours.
Regards,
Allan

Re: Mowbray family from Colinton
Hello Allan,
It would appear to be the one from Milton, Glasgow. It says he died from natural causes. Possibly cardiac failure. It lists his Father as Mowbray with the first name missing. Foundry Labourer. Mother was Elizabeth Mowbray, afterwards Ellis I think it says. M.S. Bell. Aged 61. 17th May 1924 at The Lodging House, 6 Burns Street, Glasgow. Henry Mowbray, Bricklayer Journeyman. Informant was Alex Hunter, Brother in Law. 116 Livingston Station, by Mid Calder. The corrected entry in a Precognition gives "about 7.40am" instead of "Found".
Yours,
Derek
