About Us

The Society was formed in November 2000 to assist those researching family history and genealogy throughout the county of West Lothian.

Our Library and research room is located on the Upper Floor, Torridon House, Almondvale Boulevard, Livingston, EH54 6QY. It is open to visitors Mondays and Thursdays, 11.00 a.m. until 3.00 p.m.. No appointment is needed.

On Tuesdays and Fridays, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., our volunteers are available in the Local History Library in Linlithgow (located in the Dalyell Suite, Linlithgow Partnership, Linlithgow, EH49 7EQ) to advise on any Family History queries you may have. Again, no appointment is necessary.

In addition, assistance and advice can be had by e-mailing our helpline or by posting a message on our forum (the latter is open to members only).
